Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 18 (PTI) Selection CommitteeChairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth today offered no comments onthe exclusion of pace bowler S Sreesanth from the Indian teamfor the ICC Cricket World Cup, to be held in the subcontinentfrom February 19 to April 2.
"The (selection) process is over. I have to takepermission from BCCI if I want to make any comment on theselection," Srikkanth told reporters after inaugurating workon a new cricket stadium at Thumba near here.The former India captain, however, lauded the performanceof Sreesanth in Test matches. "Let Kerala produce more bowlerslike him," he said.
After being left out of the team, the Kerala pacer hadyesterday tweeted, "I am so heart broken...but it is lack offaith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges and Ibelieve in myself. Wishing the team all the very best. I amsure we will win (the World Cup) this one...(I) will surelymiss it."
Srikkanth also wanted the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA)to build more cricket infrastructure in the state, which hesaid would help more players to come up.
The stadium at Thumba is being developed at a cost of Rsfour crore by the KCA in association with St Xavier''s Collegeat Thumba. It is envisaged as a full-fledged ground with turfwickets, dressing room, indoor nets and other facilities forstaging first-class matches.
The 15-member Indian team for the World Cup was announcedyesterday. The team, led by M S Dhoni, contained four pacebowlers --- Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra, Munaf Patel and PraveenKumar.
