Gujarat to be the 1st Geospatial state
Geospatial is a term widely used to describe the combination of spatial software and analytical methods with terrestrial or geographic data sets.
Speaking after presenting Geospatial World Forum-2011 Excellence Awards, he said there was an overwhelming response to the investors worldwide to the ''Vibrant Gujarat'' summit held recently in Gujarat.
"Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) for investments, of Rs 20.83 lakh-crore (equivalent to USD 450 billion) were signed at the conclave and I am hopeful that the investments would make Gujarat much more vibrant state in the country in the years to come," Modi said.
Modi said, “the training programmes taken up by his government for improving skills of its 5-lakh employees was being well appreciated by several states and they were trying to emulate Gujarat."
“Recognising that we need to make the quality of life better than the best in the world, Gujarat is applying Geo-Spatial technology in almost all fields from infrastructure to education and from governance to education," said Modi.
Modi invited the Geo-Spatial World Forum to hold its biennial summit in Gujarat next time. He thanked the forum for choosing Gujarat for the "premier Geospatial state" award.
Modi invited investors from across the country and overseas to be part of the first of its kind park in India.
