Hyderabad, Jan 19 (PTI) Alleging that Congress presidentSonia Gandhi is not taking a clear stand on the Telanganaissue, CPI today demanded that she take a firm decision to endthe uncertainty.

"The Srikrishna committee report has added furtherconfusion on the Telangana issue, which is responsible for thepresent uncertain situation. Ultimately political process isthe only way... the Congress, which is ruling the Centre andthe state should play a key role," CPI state secretary KNarayana has said in a letter to Gandhi.

CPI supports the demand for separate Telangana state.

The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the stateCongress president are ready to accept any decision taken bythe high command, but Gandhi is not announcing any policystatement, he alleged.

"The state Congress president and Chief Minister say thatthey will accept whatever decision taken by the high command.

Madam, you are not declaring any policy statement," he said.

The prevailing uncertainty in Andhra Pradesh hasdemoralised the industrial sector, affected the stateadministration and made the students suffer, he said.

Without taking a firm and clear decision on the issue, the meetings being convened by Union Home Minister PChidambaram do not serve any purpose, Narayana said. MORE PTISJR KRK

Chidambaram had convened a meeting of eight political parties from Andhra Pradesh on January 6 to share theSrikrishna committee report, and is expected to conductanother meeting before January 26 to discuss the way forward.

"Union Home Minister P Chidambaram is arrangingall-party meeting again. You have to make a policy statementon Srikrishna committee report prior to the said meeting.

There is no meaning in arranging such all-party meetings ifyou cannot make a policy statement on the report,"Narayana has said. PTI SJR KRK
