Abolishing visas between Russia, Chile to boost tourism:envoy

Moscow, Jan 19 (Itar-Tass) Abolishing visas betweenRussia and Chile will help boost tourism in both countries,said Chilean ambassador to Russia.

"Yes, it''s really so, beginning from this day Russia andChile have introduced visa-free rules," said ambassador JuanEduardo yesterday.

"I hope that this important step will have a favorableeffect on tourism development and the two countries'' bilateralrelations."

In 2010 Chile''s embassy in Moscow issued 596 multipleentry visas, 1,636 single entry visas and 194 visas foroutstanding scientists, politicians, public figures whocontributed to improved bilateral ties between both nations.

The agreement on visa abolition was signed on September24, 2010. According to the agreement, Russian and Chileancitizens who hold foreign passports may enter, transit andstay on each country''s territory up to 90 days without visasduring each period of 180 days since the date of their firstentry.

Russian citizens who plan to stay in Chile for more than90 days or plan to work there or start business should getvisas in Chile''s consular office in Moscow in accordance withthe established procedure. (Itar-Tass)Abolishing visas betweenRussia, Chile to boost tourism:envoy
