Six held for misbehaving with Iranian tourist

Puri, Jan 17 (PTI) Six youths were arrested formisbehaving with an Iranian woman tourist in the premises ofthe famed Sun Temple at Konark today.

The incident took place when 24-year-old MahdiyenSadat Mir-Habib visited the World Heritage monument along withher friend Md Raza Karfar, a student of Jamia Milia IslamiaUniversity of Delhi this afternoon, police said.

The six youths allegedly tried to take snaps of thewoman which was opposed by Karfar. This led to a scuffle andthe youths were subsequently arrested, sub-divisional policeofficer Gopal Chandra Patnaik said.

Both Mahdiyen and Karfar hail from Tehran, the policesaid.

A case was registred against the youths under sections341 (wrongful restraint), 323 (causing hurt), 294 (abusingwith flithy language), 354 (outraging modesty), 506 (criminalintimidiation) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC, Patnaiksaid.
