Rains, hailstorm in Mizoram
Aizawl, Jan 18 (PTI) Cold wave conditions prevailed inMizoram with rains accompanied by hailstorm lashing the northeastern part of the state since Sunday, official sources said.
Cold wave continued to grip the state with thetemperature dipping to six degrees celsius, the sources said.
Dr Vanlalzara, Principal Scientific Officer in theScience and Technology wing of the state planning departmentsaid the lowest temperature was recorded on Friday with aminimum of 6.2 degree celsius and a maximum of 23.2 degreecelsius.
At least 17 houses were destroyed when rains accompaniedby the hailstorm lashed Sakawrdai and Vanbawng villages sinceSunday, the sources said.
Four houses at Sakawrdai village were completely damagedand beyond repair, the sources said.
The cold and foggy weather also affected flights in thelone Lengpui airport near here with frequent delays andcancellations of flights to and from Kolkata and Guwahatiduring the past few days.
