Cong responds cautiously to demands for coordination committee
New Delhi, Jan 18 (PTI) Congress today reacted cautiouslyto demands from some of its allies for a CoordinationCommittee to facilitate better running of UPA-II, saying ifsuggestions to this effect have come they will be discussed ata high level.
"If suggestions have come for a Coordination Committee,it will be deliberated at a high level. I won''t be able tosay anything offhand," party spokesman Manish Tewari toldreporters.
He was asked to comment on reports that demands for abetter coordination in the UPA-II are being raised by theallies of the Congress at a time when the ruling coalition ispassing through a turbulent phase.
The NCP, whose chief and Agriculture Minister SharadPawar has come under criticism from within a section ofCongress, is among those seeking formation of a CoordinationCommittee.
Making a strong case for a UPA-II Coordination Committee,NCP has claimed that the coalition was a unique onein the contemporary world as it had no such mechanism forcoordination.
Trinamool Congress, the second biggest constituent of theUPA, has also made a strong plea for a better coordination inthe coalition.
