Charges of flouting CNT Act politically motivated: Munda
Ranchi, Jan 18 (PTI) Jharkhand Chief Minister ArjunMunda today termed ''politically motivated'' the oppositionallegations of violation of Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act,which protects sale and purchase of tribal land.
"These (charges) are politically motivated. There isno such evidence," Munda said when asked to comment onopposition Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) chief BabulalMarandi''s allegation of serious violation of CNT.
Munda said: "Babulalji met me. He suggested changes inthe CNT Act. I said what are those changes ? What are theviews of other political leaders ? What are the legal aspects?Whether there should be an all-party meeting on this?"
"But as of now there is neither any move nor anyproposal for change in the act," he said.
A debate over the act was on for sometime with someadvocating amendment to the decades-old CNT Act and othersopposing any move that might affect interest of the tribals.
