Bevan to coach Orissa Ranji team

Cuttack, Jan 17 (PTI) The Orissa Cricket Association(OCA) today named former Australian cricketer Michael Bevan aschief coach for the state''s Ranji Trophy team for the year2011-12.

"Bevan has, in principle, agreed to render his servicefrom October 2011 to February 2012," OCA secretary AsirbadBehera told reporters here.

As agreed upon, the OCA has to pay USD 35,000 to Bevanper month, excluding the expenses on account of his hotelaccommodation, living cost and airfares, he said.

"I will remain accountable to OCA for the performance ofthe team," Bevan said adding he would like to work for theoverall development of the game in the state.

Bevan, having 20 years of international experience, hadalready started the process of suggesting recommendation forthe betterment of cricket in the state in all age groups,including women, with special emphasis to the senior team.

He had already interacted with the selectors, coaches,trainers and physios, including all BCCI qualified coaches anddistrict level coaches of OCA.

He has also shown interest to visit Agartala to watch theprogress of Ranji Trophy team during the Vijay Hazare TrophyEast Zone League 2010-11 to be played from February 10 to 18,Behera said.
