Murray marches into Australian Open 2nd round

Melbourne, Jan 18: Andy Murray moved into the second round of Australian Open 2011 after his opponent in the first round match Karol Beck retired hurt with the Briton leading 6-3 6-1 4-2. Beck had a sore shoulder.

Beck, who served a two-year doping suspension from late 2005-07, posed a few problems to Murray, who in 2010 had gone into the finals of the Australian Open before being beaten by another Federer masterclass.

At the end of the match Murray said, "Obviously you'd rather finish the match off without your opponent being hurt," and added, "But it does happen quite a lot so you just have to move on and get yourself ready for the next round. It was pretty close to the end when he retired so I don't think it will affect me too much in the next round."

In the second round Murray will now taken on Illya Marchenko, the world No.79 from Ukraine.
