Three injured in clashes between two communities in A''dabad

Ahmedabad, Jan 16 (PTI) Three persons were injuredfollowing communal clashes between groups of two communitieswho pelted stones at each other in sensitive Dariyapur area ofthe city this evening, police said.

The incident took place after an altercation betweensome people of the two communities over kite-flying, theysaid.

According to police, three persons were injured in thestone-pelting incident who have been referred to V S Hospitalfor treatment.

"Some tear gas shells and light baton charging wasdone to disperse the crowd belonging to both the communities,"Assistant Commissioner of Police M V Mehta told PTI.

"The situation was under control now," Mehta said,adding that city crime branch and officers of the specialoperations group (SOG) have been deployed in the area tosuppress any further attempt of violence.

Police said that some vehicles which included an autorickshaw and couple of two wheelers were damaged by therioters.

Night petrolling in the area has also been increased,besides deployment of additional police force, they said. PTIPBABC
