''Social Network'' sweeps Golden Globes with four trophies

Los Angeles, Jan 17 (PTI) ''The Social Network'', thestory of Facebook''s birth, continued its winning streak bybagging four trophies including the best picture and bestdirector at the 68th annual Golden Globe Awards.

David Fincher was named the best director, AronSorkin for the best screenplay while Trent Reznor and AtticusRoss piped Indian musician A R Rahman in the best scorecategory.

A pregnant Natalie Portman, dressed in a pink gown,accepted the best dramatic actress trophy for her performanceof a troubled ballerina in ''Black Swan''.

Portman thanked director Darren Aronofsky for themovie and "such a beautiful gift with this role." She met herfiance, Benjamin Millepied while working on the movie.

British actor Colin Firth, who had lost last year for''Single Man'', took home the trophy for the best actor for hisperformance of a stuttering King George VI in royal drama ''TheKing''s Speech''.

The 50-year-old star said it could be difficult goingthrough mid-life "with your dignity and judgement intact."Holding his trophy in his hands, Firth said: "Right now thisis all that stands between me and a Harley Davidson."

''The Kids Are All Right'' won the top comedy pictureand its star Annette Bening picked up her second Golden Globetrophy in the best actress in a comedy or musical for herperformance as a lesbian mother in the movie.

"I''m very proud to be part of this very special filmabout two women who are very deeply in love and trying to keeptheir family together," Bening said thanking her co-star andfellow nominee Julianne Moore for her "class act."

Supporting honours went to ''The Fighter'' withChristian Bale winning the best supporting actor award forhis performance as former fighter and addict Dickie Eklund.

Bale thanked his wife and co-star Mark Wahlberg,saying, "You can only give a loud performance like the one Igave when you have a quiet anchor."

Actress Melissa Leo, who won the best supportingtrophy for her portrayal of a mom to Bale''s character in ''TheFighter'', admitted that initially she thought she was tooyoung to play the mother.

"I really don''t know if I can play Mark andChristian''s mother. I''m a little young. Mark Wahlberg, you area prince. You are amazing. It was beautiful to play yourmother."

Paul Giamatti piped Johnny Depp, who had received twonominations, in the category of best actor in a comedy ormusical for his role in indie film ''Barney''s Version''.
