Lucknow, Jan 16 (PTI) BJP leader Rajnath Singh todayasked party workers in Uttar Pradesh to work with the targetof forming the next government in the state, claiming thatpeople were fed up with most of the political partiesincluding Congress, BSP and SP.
Addressing district presidents, incharges and seniorparty functionaries at a meeting here to chalk out thestrategy in view of the 2012 assembly polls, Singh said duringhis tour of 18 districts of the state he felt people weredesperately looking for an alternative.
"People are fed up with the Congress-led government atthe Centre due to inflation and corruption and with BSPand SP as well. They have expectations from the BJP.
Therefore, party workers should interact directly with peopleand raise their issues," state BJP president Surya PratapShahi quoted Rajnath as saying at the meeting.
Exhorting party workers to set themselves the target offorming the next government in the state, the former BJPpresident said they should start preparing for the polls withthe objective of winning at least 200 of the 403 assemblyseats.
Shahi said the party''s Gaon Chalo campaign was alsoreviewed at the meetinmg and it was decided to extend it up toJanuary 31.
"Preparations for the NDA rally in Kanpur on February5 were also reviewed," he said.
He said the party has decided to launch a statewideagitation against the wrong policies of the Centre and thestate government between February 12 to March 15.
