Washington, Jan 17 (ANI): The controversial claim by Ron Reagan in his forthcoming book 'My Father at 100' that his father and former US President Ronald Reagan suffered the early stages of Alzheimer's disease while in office has now descended into sibling rivalry.

Ron's conservative half-brother Michael Reagan has called him 'an embarrassment' and has asked the public to 'pray for his brother', reports the Politico.

"Ron, my brother was an embarrassment to his father when he was alive and today he became an embarrassment to his mother," Michael posted on Twitter.

He also accused Ron of selling out his father to sell books.

"My brother seems to want [to] sell out his father to sell books," he added in another tweet.

'Pray for my brother', Michael tweeted in another post.

The spat comes over just three weeks before Ronald's 100th birthday, which will kick off a year of events to honour the 40th US President.

In his book, Ron recalls the early warning signs of his father losing his mental faculties.

"The question of whether my father suffered from the beginning stages of Alzheimer's while in office more or less answers itself," he had written.

Michael, adopted during Ronald's first marriage, is also releasing a book ahead of his father's 100th birthday, titled, 'The New Reagan Revolution: How Ronald Reagan's Principles Can Restore America's Greatness'.

Both books will be released on Tuesday. (ANI)
