Chandigarh, Jan 17 (PTI) The icy cold wave sweeping acrossPunjab and Haryana intensified with minimum temperature inmost parts of the region plunging by upto three degreesCelsius.
The minimum temperature in parts of Punjab and Haryanahovered between one to two degrees Celsius below normal,aggravating the cold conditions in the region, the MeT officesaid here today.
Amritsar continued to be coldest place in the region witha low of 1.8 degrees Celsius, which was two notches belownormal.
While Narnaul braved a low of four degrees Celsius, theminimum temperature at Bhiwani was 4.6 degrees Celsius.
Among other places, Hisar shivered at a low of 4.7degrees Celsius, one notch below normal, followed by fivedegrees Celsius each at Patiala and Chandigarh, one notch eachbelow normal.
Ludhiana settled at a low of 4.9 degrees Celsius, onenotch below normal, the minimum at Karnal and Rohtak was 5.4degrees Celsius each.
Most parts of Punjab had mist in the morning reducingvisibility considerably.
Besides, icy cold wave swept across the region, confiningpeople indoors.
The MeT forecast dry weather in the region for the nexttwo days.
