Mobile shop, grocer, businessmen robbed

New Delhi, Jan 15 (PTI) A mobile shop, two businessmenand three security guards became the targets of biker gangs ofcriminals in separate incidents reported in the nationalcapital since Friday, the police said today.

A businessman was robbed of Rs 15 lakh in broad-daylight in Kirti Nagar this morning while four men armed withbaseball bats barged into a mobile shop in TughlaqabadExtension and assaulted a salesman before decamping with cashand mobiles this afternoon.

A grocery shopowner was shot on his chest in NewUsmanpur last night but managed to thwart robbers attempts tosnatch his cash bag while three security guards of a newschannel were allegedly assaulted and robbed by nine masked menin New Ashok Nagar last night.

The incident at Kirti Nagar took place at around 11 amand the victim has been identified Vikas Khanna (41) who ownsa plywood shop and was on his way to deposit the cash atnearby Indian Overseas bank.

As he got out of his car to drop his daughter at hertuition centre, 4 men on two motorcycles stopped them and heldhim at gunpoint after which they asked him to part with thecash bag, a senior police official said. The four personsfled from the spot.

At Tughlaqabad Extension, 7 unidentified men armedwith baseball bats barged into the mobile showroom and beat upa salesman before decamping with cash and mobiles worth lakhs.

The men assaulted Rashid at the ''Mobile Solutions''showroom. The salesman lost consciousness and the men robbedRs 2.5 lakh kept in a drawer and some mobiles before fleeingfrom the spot.

The incident came to light when a local entered theshop and found Rashid unconscious. He informed the owner ofthe shop identified as Pawan who alerted the police.

The police suspect the attackers have some personaldispute with Rashid.

Last night, 60-year-old grocery shopowner HarishChandra was shot at by bikers in north-east Delhi''s NewUsmanpur at around 10 pm when he resisted their robberyattempts. The victim was returning home when the took place.

"He refused to part with his cash bag. The bikers fledthe spot after the victim raised an alarm and localsgathered at the spot," the official said. He was rushed tothe nearby GTB hospital where his condition is critical.

In another incident, three security guards working ata news channel were assaulted and robbed by nine masked menin New Ashok Nagar last evening. .

The victims were identified as Santosh Singh, Ashok Kumar Singh and Birju Singh who were returning from theirNoida Sector 16 office on bicycles when an unidentified manhit Birju in New Ashok Nagar at around 9:15 pm.

Birju protested against this and then eight moremasked men came and beat him as well as the other two.

The robbers then asked the victims to hand over theirbelongings. They took away Rs 8,000 in cash and three mobilephones from them.

The victims somehow managed to reach home where theynarrated the incident to their landlord who helped them infiling a police complaint this morning.

No arrests have been made in connection with any ofthe incidents.
