Mangaonkar, Aishwarya in line for double

Mumbai, Jan 15 (PTI) Local lad Mahesh Mangaonkar andChennai lass Aishwarya Nambiar set themselves up in line towin a grand doubles each in the Rs 2.69-lakh prize money AllIndia Little Masters Junior Squash tournament today byreaching the semi-finals.

While Mangaonkar entered the title contest in the boysunder-17 and under-19 age groups, Aishwarya did likewise inthe girls under-15 and under-19 categories respectively in thetournament organised and hosted by Willingdon Sports Club,Mahalaxmi.

Mangaonkar, seeded number one in both the categories inwhich he made the grade, disposed off Sumer Rao in straightgames 11-2, 11-2, 11-3 in the under-19 semi final beforereturning to the court to blunt the challenge from ArjunKochhar with a 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 scoreline in the under 17event.

In contrast, the Chennai girl had to struggle a bit toovercome Jui Kalgutkar 11-8, 8-11, 11-6, 11-3 in the under-15semis and also found it tough going against Chennai rival SaaiMeera before cruising to a 11-7, 11-9, 8-11, 16-14 winin the under-19 age group. More PTI SSR ABC
