Jamshedpur, Jan 16 (PTI) The Jharkhand governmenttoday expressed confidence that the 34th National Games to beheld in the state next month would be the best so far andthere would be no scams in the run up to it.
Proper process and transparency were being maintainedin the preparation leaving no scope for irregularities, ChiefSecretary A K Singh today said after chairing the corecommittee meeting of the Organising Committee here.
The irregularities detected earlier were beinginvestigated by state agencies, but presently the focus of thegovernment was to conduct the games successfully, he said.
"We have moved far ahead and were focusing on toconduct the National Games in a grand manner," Singh said whenasked about the irregularities detected in the run up to thegames in the past.
Asked whether several delays in conducting the games,originally scheduled in 2007, has tarnished the reputation ofthe state, Singh said, "No damage was caused to the state.
The forthcoming games will be the best."
The games, originally slated for 2007, was deferredseven times mainly due to political instability in Jharkhandand would finally be held from February 12 to 26.
On the preparation in Jamshedpur, one of the venues,he was satisfied with the preparations but some work likeaccommodation has to be completed fast.
"I have instructed the officials to renovate thehotels where the athletes would be accommodated," he saidadding that the campaign for the national games would begin inthe next few days.
