Mumbai, Jan 15 (PTI) Defending champion Indian Oil andBPCL will clash in the final of the Rs 12 lakh Dr D Y PatilT20 cricket tournament after both registered comfortable winsagainst ONGC and hosts D Y Patil ''A'' respectively today.
While Indian Oil, riding on skipper Wasim Jaffer''s knockof 40 and contributions from Siddhesh Lad (47) and AjinkyaRahane (23) outplayed ONGC by four wickets with three balls tospare, BPCL scored a 40-run win over D Y Patil.
Batting first, ONGC lost three early wickets with onlyseven runs on board, medium pacers Javed Khan and Anand Rajansharing the spoils.
Tanmay Srivastava 38 (3x4s, 1x6) and Mayank Tehlan (21)retrieved the innings with a 47-run partnership, before SumeetNarwal gave the innings some respectability with a magnificenthalf century in only 26 balls, his second in as many innings,which was studded with five boundaries and two sixes.
ONGC managed 151 for 7 in their 20 overs, which was notsufficient to keep Indian Oil at bay.
After the openers had departed for 54 runs, Lad (47),who played his first game of the tournament, in the company ofhis skipper Wasim Jaffer (40) added 57 runs in 43 balls forthe third wicket.
Harpreet Singh completed the formalities with a boundaryfor Indian Oil in the final over.
In the other semi final match, BPCL outplayed Dr D YPatil ''A'' on spinner friendly track in a low scoring affair.
An opening stand of 55 runs between Bhavin Thakkar (23)and Manish Pandey (36) was the highlight of the BPCL innings,as they scored 127 for 8 in 20 Overs.
For the hosts, spinners Nilesh Kulkarni, Iqbal Abdulla,and Siddharth Chitnis took two wickets each. D Y Patil ''A''were bowled out for 87 in 17.1 overs.
