New Delhi, Jan 16 (PTI) BJP today described spirallingprices in general as "failure of the economist Prime Minister"and the food and petrol price hike as a "Congress conspiracy"against common man, demanding action in both the areas.
"When the world is witnessing a stable price regime andfood prices are actually going down in most parts, India isexperiencing a turbulent price regime because of lack ofcohesive policy on part of the UPA," BJP spokesperson PrakashJavadekar said.
He said that the double dose of price hike in one monthis "totally unjustified" and is nothing but "loot" of thecommon man by the government.
Attacking the government, he said that when people werereeling under general price hike of 10 per cent in WPI, thegovernment should have taken remedial measures, but, insteadit hiked petrol prices twice.
"In the name of de-control, it is actually the cartel ofoil companies which is raising the prices under governmentprotection", he alleged.
Mocking at the government for being in a state of "policyparalysis" and having "lack of political will and vision",Javadekar said, "Sharad Pawar says he is responsible for pricerise of only five items. Rahul Gandhi held coalition politicsresponsible for price rise, DMK feels it is a natural calamityand the PM gives his usual promises of stabilising prices innext two months".
"The BJP demands a revoke on the petrol price hike. Wewant government to come out with a special action plan totackle both these issues", he said.
Charging the government with "indulging in profitmaking", he said the tax earned from revenue from oilcompanies is nearly Rs 1,76,000 crore... which is the sameamount of the 2G spectrum allocation scam. It makes profitsbut still burdens people". More PTI AN
On the demolition of the 31-storey Adarsh Housing Society building recommended today by the Environment Ministry, theBJP leader said it was important to see what action thegovernment takes on the recommendation.
"We also demand to know what is the outcome of the CBIprobe into this scam, which is possibly the biggest in thedefence ministry till date. We demand arrest of thoseinvolved", Javadekar told reporters.
Asked to comment on senior party leader L K Advani''slatest blog in which he has demanded action on the illegalmoney stashed away in foreign banks, Javadekar said the partyhas been raising this issue time and again at various forums.
"When UPA came to power in the second term the PrimeMinister assured of taking action on the black money issuewithin 100 days. Now it has been over 500 days and we are yetto see any action on it", he added.
Asked about the BJP''s opinion on its leader Arun Shourierecent statement that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee was"one of the best prime ministers we are yet to have",Javadekar said "the best Prime Minister can only be one fromNDA".
At a panel discussion in Kolkata two days ago, Shouriedescribed Mukherjee as a man of trust and keystone ofIndian governance.
