Narwal stars as ONGC enters semis

Mumbai, Jan 14 (PTI) Delhi Ranji player Sumit Narwalshone with both bat and ball to help ONGC notch up acomprehensive 77-run victory over Air India and enter thesemifinals of the Rs 12 lakh prize money Dr D Y Patil T20tournament here today.

Narwal slammed seven sixes on his way to a blistering17-ball 52 to rescue ONGC from 103 for 5 in 15.5 overs to 176for 7 after they opted to bat first.

He then grabbed two for 19 to supplement Punjab''s TuruwarKohli''s fine effort of 4 for 23 which sent Air India crashingto 109 all out in 15 overs.

ONGC will take on defending champions Indian Oil, whorode on Mumbai Ranji stalwarts Ajinkya Rahane''s 60 and skipperWasim Jaffer''s unbeaten 59 to defeat Western Railway by 83runs.

The other semi-final will pit hosts D Y Patil A againstBharat Petroleum. The hosts ''A'' team were too good for lastyear''s runners-up Canara Bank, Bangalore, winning by fivewickets, while BPCL ended the run of D Y Patil ''B'', winning by34 runs. (More) PTI SSR ATK
