Mercury rises in Punjab, Haryana; cold conditions relent
Chandigarh, Jan 15 (PTI) Cold conditions furtherrelented in Punjab and Haryana with minimum temperature risingby 7 degrees above normal, even as rains lashed a few placesin the region.
Chandigarh had a minimum of 12.7 deg C, up by 7notches above normal. It also recorded a rainfall of 1.4 mm,MeT office said today.
In Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum temperature of12.3 deg C, six degrees above normal. Hisar had a low of 9.1deg C followed by Karnal at 11 deg C. Narnaul had a minimum of8.5 deg C.
In Punjab, Amritsar saw minimum temperature going upby 7 notches and settled at 9.6 deg C, while Ludhiana andPatiala had a low of 9 deg C and 9.8 deg C, respectively.
In the morning, rainfall drenched many places inPunjab including Ludhiana, Phagwara, Madhopur, Shapur Kandiarea among others.
MeT said that days are expected to turn dry duringnext two days in Punjab and Haryana.
