Chowrasia shoots 67 in first round at Joburg Open

Johannesburg, Jan 14 (PTI) Three birdies in last fiveholes helped SSP Chowrasia fare much better in the second legof South African journey on the European Tour as he shot afour-under 67 to lie 27th after first round of the JoburgOpen.

Chowrasia, who missed the cut last week in East London,had birdies on the second, sixth, 14th, 15th and 18th againstone bogey on the third.

Locals Martin Maritz and Tyrone Mordt shot identicalnine-under 62 to share the lead while two other South AfricansGrace Branden (63) and Thomas Aiken (64) were behind them.

The top non-South African was Alexandre Kalenka of France(64) in tied fourth.
