South Korea blocks access to N Koreas national Web domain
name
Seoul, Jan 14 (Yonhap) South Korea has blocked its peoplein the South from accessing Web sites using North Korea''snational Web domain name, saying the sites contain "illegalinformation" under the nation''s anti-communism and securitylaws, officials said here.
The blockage by the South''s state-run CommunicationsStandards Commission came less than a day after an expert saidNorth Korea had renewed the use of its own national Web domainname of ".kp" in an apparent effort to widen public access toits propaganda sites.
The commission started blocking Web sites using the ".kp"domain from Internet users in the South attempting to viewthose sites, including an Internet portal with an address ofhttp://www.naenara.com.kp, officials said. (Yonhap)
