Proclaimed offender arrested in Delhi
New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) A proclaimed offender, who wasevading arrest in at least 22 cases of murder, robbery anddacoity, was arrested in the national capital after ashoot-out, police said today.
Chattar Singh (37) was apprehended by a team of DelhiPolice''s Crime Branch while he was on his way to Johripur fromSeelampur to meet a contact yesterday, a senior policeofficial said.
A resident of Ghaziabad, Singh had been evading arrestfor the last two years and UP Police had declared a reward ofRs 10,000 on his arrest.
He was declared a proclaimed offender by a localcourt in connection with seven cases of murder, robbery anddacoity in 2008.
"He tried to flee and fired at the police party from acountry made revolve. One of our Head Constables returnedfire. He was subsequently overpowered," the official said.
A motorcycle, a country-made firearm and four livecartridges were recovered from him.
