One arrested with Rs 3.5 lakh fake Indian currency

Amritsar, Jan 14 (PTI) The Punjab Police today arrestedone man here and recovered from him fake Indian currency witha face value of Rs.3.5 lakh smuggled in from Pakistan.

AIG counter-Intelligence wing of the police ManminderSingh said Sukhjit Singh was arrested on a tip off when he wasmoving on his motorcycle. During frisking, the fake currencyof Rs 1000 denomination was recovered from his possession, headded.

The AIG said that at the time of the arrest Sukhjit wasgoing to deliver the consignment of fake currency for furthercirculation in the market.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the seizedcurrency notes were part of a bigger consignment recentlysmuggled from Pakistan with the help of a notorious fakeIndian currency smuggler now lodged in Amritsar jail, he said.
