Militant arrested with arms in Manipur

Imphal, Jan 14 (PTI) A prominent militant of the bannedPeople''s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) wasarrested by Manipur police commandos during a search ininterior Thoubal district early today.

Official sources said H Binod Singh was nabbed fromthe Phumlen Pat area in the district as part of an operationto make preventive arrests ahead of the forthcoming RepublicDay celebrations.

Three rocket launchers, several rounds of ammunition ofdifferent arms and other weapons were seized from him, thesources said adding the militant was being interrogated at thelocal police station.

Sources said random searches would be conducted indifferent parts of the distrtict, infested by militants, overthe next few days.
