New Delhi, Jan 13 (PTI) Kolkata''s Netaji Indoor stadiumwill host the 72nd Senior National and Inter-State TableTennis Championships from January 17 to 23.
A total of 31 states, including 2 institutions willparticipate in the men''s team event, while in the women''ssection 27 states, including 2 institutions, will vie for tophonours.
According to a Table Tennis Federation of India release,for the first time Arunachal Pradesh will be participatingboth in the men''s and women''s team championship.
Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB) has been awardedthe top billing in the men''s as well as women''s team event,the statement added.
The PSPB team comprises of Delhi Commonwealth Games men''sdoubles gold medalist pair of Achanta Sharath Kamal andSubhajit Saha, bronze medalist duo of Soumyadeep Roy and AAmalraj while the women''s side will have the likes of KShamini, Madhurika Patkar and Mouma Das.
All the 32 states have been divided into eight groupswhere they will play each other on the round robin leagueformat. The top teams from each group will qualify for theknock-out stage.
The total prize money for the event is approximately Rs 8lacs with the men''s singles champion taking home Rs 1,87,while winner in the women''s singles pocketing Rs 1,20,000, thestatement said.
