Mumbai, Jan 14 (PTI) The Director General ofInternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Yukiya Amano, whowill begin his two-day visit to India on January 17, will meetIndian nuclear scientists and visit various institutions ofthe Department of Atomic Energy.
Amano will inaugurate the 21st Annual Conference ofIndian Nuclear Society on ''Impact of Radiation Technologyon Human Health and Environment'' on January 17.
He will also visit Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, andAdvanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education inCancer'' at Kharghar at Navi Mumbai, DAE sources said.
On January 18, he will be visiting Kalpakkam in TamilNadu which houses the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research(IGCAR), Nuclear Power Corporation''s two operating indigenousPressurised Heavy Water Reactors, and BHAVNI''s under--construction Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor(PFBR).
India has gifted indigenously developed technology fortreatment of cancer -- Bhabhatron''-- to Vietnam and Sri Lankathrough the IAEA''s Programme of Action for Cancer Therapy. Onemore will be made available to one of the African countries,according to sources in DAE. .
