APMC''s onion scheme gets good response in Nashik
Nashik, Jan 13 (PTI) Agriculture Produce MarketCommittee (APMC) of Lasalgaon near here today continued withits scheme to sell onions at cheaper rates directly to thecustomers.
It brought two trucks loaded with onions of threevarieties and sold at the rates of Rs 15, 25 and 32 per kg atRavivar Karanja locality.
The scheme, launched yesterday, has been receivinggood response from the people, Jaydutta Holkar, Chairperson ofLasalgaon APMC, said.
Holkar said onion production in Maharashtra,particularly Nashik district - a major centre - has beenaffected due to untimely rains. This has contributed to thesoaring prices of the commodity.
The State Government-supported scheme, producers toconsumers'', is aimed at brining relief to the common man, hesaid.
Given the good response, APMC may consideringextending the scheme to big cities like Mumbai and Pune, hesaid.
