WB Home Secretary affirms affidavit in Calcutta High Court
Kolkata, Jan 13 (PTI) The West Bengal government todayfiled an affidavit, in which it stated its position on a pleafor a CBI probe into the killing of seven persons on January 7in Lalgarh and existence of camps of armed CPI(M) cadre,beforethe Calcutta High Court on its direction.
The Principal Secretary (Home), G D Gautama, went tothe Oath Commissioner to sign the documents before servicingof the copies to the petitioner.
The affidavit would be placed before the court ofChief Justice J N Patel and Justice A K Roy tomorrow morningwhen the PIL, filed by the Calcutta High Court BarAssociation, would be taken up for hearing.
The division bench had directed the West Bengalgovernment to explain its position on the pleas for a CBIprobe on the existence of armed camps and steps to dismantlethem besides the plea for interim compensation to the kin ofthe dead and injured.
The matter would come up for hearing tomorrow.
