New Delhi, Jan 12 (PTI) Sixth seed Grandmaster ParimarjanNegi along with Slovenian Grandmaster Lenic Luka and UkrainianGrandmaster Mikhailo Oleksienko share the lead with six andhalf points after the seventh round matches of the 9thParsvnath International Grandmasters chess tournament, today.
Playing with black pieces in Scheveningen variation ofSicilian Defence, overnight sole leader Negi held top seedAlexander Areshchenko of Ukraine at Ludlow Castle here.
But Lenic and Oleksienko also joined Negi at the top ofpoint table after defeating Indian Grandmasters Arun Prasadand Abhijeet Gupta respectively in the seventh roundencounters.On the top board, Areshchenko had an advantageousposition in the middle game with two connected passed pawns inthe centre but failed miserably to convert the advantage todecisive result and signed peace treaty in 77 moves.
Meanwhile playing white side of Chigorin Defence, citybased International Master Vaibhav Suri held fourth seedAustrian Grandmaster Markus Ragger to a creditable draw.
In other seventh round matches, Yuriy Kuzubov defeatedSahaj Grover while International Masters Saptarshi Roy andShyam Nikil held Grandmaster Konstantin Chernyshov of Russiaand Alon Greenfeld of Israel respectively.
In a surprising result, International Master VikaramadiyaKamble shocked Grandmaster Neelotpal Das.
