Sniffer dogs to trace injured man-eater tigress in CTR
Rishikesh (Uttarakhand), Jan 13 (PTI) Corbett TigerReserve (CTR) administration today pressed into servicesniffer dogs to locate a man-eater tigress who was injured inan attemt by Uttarakhand forest department hunters to shootit.
Forest officials believe that sniffer dogs, which havebeen brought from Haldwani town of Nainital district, couldtrace the injured tigress by following her blood drops on theground, official sources said.
The tigress, which has so far killed four women in a spanof two months in the CTR, was shot by the hunters on the nightof January 11 when it returned to its victim, the body of thewoman which it killed on January 10. However, it managed toescape the attack and ran into the jungles in an injuredcondition.
Since then, the forest teams led by CTR Director R KMishra are combing the jungles to locate the injured tigress.
The forest department declared the tigress as maneaterand issued orders to shoot it on December 30 last year. PTICorr DPT
