Rs 127 cr for drinking water supply in Mahendragarh
Chandigarh, Jan 13 (PTI) A Rs 127.04 crore project hasbeen approved by National Bank for Agriculture and RuralDevelopment (NABARD) to tackle drinking water problem inHaryana''s Mahendragarh district.
A spokesman of Public Health Engineering Department saidthat with the implementation of this project, 64 water-starvedvillages and 34 other areas would be provided water supply atthe rate of 60 litres per capita per day.
Free water connections had been given to 7,79,148Scheduled Castes households in rural areas and 1,38,793 inurban areas under Indira Gandhi Drinking Water Supply Scheme.
Water treatment plants had also been provided in 100villages of district Mahendragarh, Jhajjar, Kaithal and Mewatby Nandi Foundation, an NGO under a new initiative.
The project was being implemented on public privateparticipation mode and safe drinking water was being suppliedto the public at the rate of ten paise per litre, he said. PTICHS
