Cuttack, Jan 13 (PTI) As a tribute to Netaji SubashChandra Bose, Cuttack district administration has proposedthat a city road be named after the legendary leader.
��������"We are going to suggest to the Cuttack MunicipalCorporation (CMC) to name either the road in front of Netaji�sancestral home in Odia Bazar or the one in front of RavenshawCollegiate, where Netaji studied, as ''Netaji Marg'', districtcollector Kishore Mohanty said today.
������� The city civic body which has also geared up in a bigway to celebrate Netaji Jayanti on January 23 has appreciatedthe idea. "We are yet to receive any such proposal. But I amsure the proposal would be welcomed by the CMC council," saidcity Mayor Soumendra Kumar Ghosh.
������� Meanwhile, Netaji Birthplace Museum at his ancestralhome in Odia Bazar is being refurbished.
������� An old painting of Netaji and a sword used by membersof Rani of Jhansi Regiment of INA were donated to themuseum recently by a city-based Netaji admirer whose fatherwas a medical officer of the INA.
The museum has several INA insignia which have beenobtained from INA secretary S S Yadav of New Delhi. Effortsare also on to contact living INA associates to collect somemore items to be displayed in the museum, sources said.
������� Similarly, an INA regalia sword which was handed overto Captain D Dasan of Chennai by Netaji himself in 1944, nowon display in the museum. Dasan, President of Chennai basedNetaji Subash Chandra Bose Memorial National WelfareFoundation, during his visit to the state in 2004 had donatedthe four feet long sword for display in the museum.
������� Besides, a pair of INA uniform donated by Lt RLaxmidevi Naidu and other insignias donated by INAassociates�Capt C M Santnam of Tokyo regiment and Capt RSaraswati Rajamani of Burma regiment also find place in themuseum.
