PDP favours cross-LoC trade, free movement of people
Jammu, Jan 12 (PTI) Opposition PDP in Jammu and Kashmirtoday advocated dismantling of barriers allegedly imposed bythe National Conference-led government for hassle-free traveland trade between the two sides of Kashmir.
"We strongly advocate dismantling of the barrierscreated by present NC-led government for hassle-free cross-LoCtravel and trade between two side of the Kashmir," formerChief Minister and PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said here.
The PDP leader regretted that the state government hadnot only "failed to further facilitate this trade but also hadreversed the whole process".
"The present government has hampered the cross LoC tradethrough unnecessary restrictions," he alleged.
He said the restrictions imposed on free movement ofpeople and commodities have only deprived the region of vastpotential of economic activities that could have transformedthe lives of its people.
Mufti also demanded that travel across the LoC shouldnot be confined only to divided families. "People of Jammu andKashmir should be allowed to move freely on both sides of theLoC," he demanded.
