Four laning of highways in Orissa
Bhubaneswar, Jan 12 (PTI) Targetting completion offour laning of National Highway-203 between Bhubaneswar andPuri before 2015, the Orissa government today decided to startwork from next month, official sources said.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by ChiefMinister Naveen Patnaik here.
Chief Secretary B K Patnaik said the National HighwayAuthority of India (NHAI) has awarded the contract for thefour-laning of a 60-km stretch between Bhubaneswar and Puri ofthe NH-203.
A total of 227.5 hectare of private land spread over34 villages needed to be acquired for the project.
Work on the three other NHs would start from February,the chief secretary said.
The other highways to be four-laned were theSambalpur-Bargarh-Luharchandi (88 km) of NH-6 inOrissa-Chhatishgarh border, the Rimuli-Roxy-Rajamunda sectionof NH-215 (109 km) and six laning of theBhubaneswar-Jagatpur-Chandikhole stretch of NH-5 (62 km).
The work on NH connecting Bhadrak-Balasore,Sunakhala-Ganjam and Balugaon-Ganjam would be completed byApril this year, the NHAI said.
Orissa has only 3,600 km of NH which included 500 kmunder the Goldern Quadrilateral Corridor passing through thestate.
