Demand for increasing municipal councillors'' fund
New Delhi, Jan 12 (PTI) The allocation for municipalcouncillors'' funds should be increased and corporators shouldget a fixed salary, chairmen of various ward committees saidtoday.
The demand was raised at a special meeting of the MCDStanding Committee in which chairman of ward committeespresented their budget proposals.
The MCD budget for 2011-12 was unveiled by MunicipalCommissioner K S Mehra in December.
Several ward Committee chairmen said at the meeting thatdevelopmental works are facing problems due to shortage ofmoney and demanded that the councillors'' fund be increased toRs 2.5 crore. At present, the corporators get Rs 50 lakh.
Some also sought fixed salaries for councillors.
