Coalition politics a hurdle in decision making: Chavan
Mumbai, Jan 13 (PTI) Taking Rahul Gandhi''s comments oncoalition compulsions a step further, Maharashtra ChiefMinister Prithviraj Chavan has said coalition politics wassometimes a hurdle in decision making.
"Coalition can be a hindrance and one has to find away out to make things happen," Chavan said at a functionorganised yesterday in suburban Vile Parle.
His comments came in the wake of Rahul saying the UPAgovernment was "not able to control inflation and corruptionas his grandmother and late prime minister Indira Gandhi coulddo" because of coalition compulsions.
Chavan said the dynamics of coalition politics meanthat there are "certain decisions that can''t be taken.
"At times, I get a call from (NCP boss) Sharad Pawar, who has a view on a situation...there are times when even AjitPawar (deputy chief minister and Sharad Pawar''s nephew) doesnot agree with him."
"Had it been a prime minister like Manmohan Singh andhad he got the kind of majority which Indira Gandhi and RajivGandhi had, the country''s growth rate would surely have beenmore by at least 1.5 to 2 per cent," he said.
