AIDWA demands resignation of Dy CM in Rupam Pathak case

Patna, Jan 12 (PTI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumarshould ask his deputy Sushil Kumar Modi to resign immediatelyfor his ''partisan'' role following the murder of BJP MLA RajKishore Keshari, All India Democratic Women''s Association(AIDWA) vice-president Subhasini Ali today said.

''''Kumar is talking about ushering in an era ofdevelopment with justice .. He should ask Modi to resignimmediately for his dubious role in declaring Rupam Pathak ablackmailer much before the police took up the case,'''' Alitold reporters here.

''''Modi as a powerful politician of the state mightaffect the course of justice in the case,'''' she said.

Prior to the incident on January 4 Pathak, who hadallegedly stabbed Keshari in full public view in his house,had filed an FIR on May 28, 2010 against him and his aideBipin Rai alleging sexual exploitation by them. But Modiduring his visit to Purnia two days later and rubbished hercomplaint at a press conference, Ali said.

During investigations by CBI, which has been recommendedby the Bihar government, Modi''s role in the murder case shouldalso be probed, she said and demanded the immediate arrest ofRai.

She questioned the FIR filed by the police against 1000unknown persons who brutally attacked Pathak at the MLA''sresidence after she allegedly knifed him.

''''Why did the police not take take any precautionarymeasure ?'''' she asked and demanded security for the familiesof Pathak and the arrested journalist Navlesh Pathak.

Ali also demanded the immediate release of thejournalist, who had published an article in his tabloid aboutthe alleged sexual exploitation of the woman by the BJP MLAand his aide.

AIDWA, she said, would fight to secure the human rightsof Rupam Pathak and Navlesh Pathak.

Ali had staged a dharna at the gates of Purnia jail,where Rupam Pathak is lodged, along with AIDWA membersyesterday demanding justice for her.
