Patna, Jan 11 (PTI) World Bank Chairman Robert BZoellick arrived here this evening on a two-day visit alongwith the Union Minister for Environment Jairam Ramesh.
Zoellick and Ramesh, who arrived in a chartered plane,were received at the airport by the Cabinet PrincipalSecretary Afzal Amanullah, District Magistrate Jitendra KumarSinha and Senior Superintendent of Police B S Meena.
Zoellick would oversee the signing of an agreementwith the Nitish Kumar government for a soft loan worth Rs1,000 crore for infrastructure building and construction ofdwellings in Kosi region that was ravaged following a breachin river Kushaha in Nepal on August 18,2008.
Five north Bihar districts -- Saharsa, Madhepura,Supaul, Purnia and Araria -- were ravaged by the turbulentKosi during that time.
The soft loan would facilitate the reconstruction ofabout 100,000 houses, 90 bridges and 290 kilometres of ruralroads.
