Cuttack, Jan 11 (PTI) Security was today stepped up atthe premier SCB Medical College Hospital here, following acall threatening to blow up the police outpost located withinhospital premises.
Two suspected Maoists from West Bengal are undergoingtreatment for blast injuries at the hospital.
Police sources said the personnel at the police outpostreceived a phone call from an unidentified caller at around 11pm on Sunday night, a day after police detained three personsfrom West Bengal who had accompanied two seriously injuredpatients from the neighbouring state for treatment in thehospital.
"The caller refusing to identify himself threatened toblow up the police outpost in the medical college premises,"said a police officer adding that the caller had categoricallysaid that they would carry out the attack on Sunday night.
However, the call turned out to be a hoax as nothinghappened on Sunday night.
"But we cannot take chance and security has been steppedup at the hospital premises," said another officer.
����� The West Bengal police, who were intimated about thedetention of suspected people, arrived in the city on Mondayand took one of the detained persons on transit remand, wantedfor sedition charges.
