Policeman held for abducting girl in Arunachal

Itanagar, Jan 12 (PTI) A police sub-inspector postedat the Headquarters here was arrested on the charge ofkidnapping an eighteen-year-old girl allegedly to hush up somecriminal cases filed against him by her.

Mone Pado was missing from her rented room here sinceNovember 28 following which her brother had lodged a missingperson diary and alleged that the policeman Unneshwar Perme(51) could be the person behind the disappearance of hersister.

Acting on the complaint, police launched a search andcame to know that the girl had an illicit relation with themarried policeman for the past six years and the man visitedher twice before she went missing.

The girl had filed against Perme three criminal caseswhich are in various stages of trial with the Session Court,Yupia.

According to the brother of the girl, Perme wasforcing her to withdraw the cases with the promise to marryher. Records show that the accused had called the victim onher mobile before she went missing.

Investigations also revealed that the accused hadentered the victim�s rented room with a spare key in herabsence and took away several documents including importantfiles of the pending cases.

Unneshwar Perme was arrested from his officialresidence at Police Colony here on Monday. He has been chargedunder sections 448/380/364/365/201 of the IPC, police said.
