Fresh probe ordered into girl''s death in boarding school

Theni (TN), Jan 12 (PTI) A fresh probe has been orderedinto the death of a teenaged girl inmate of a boarding schoolrun by an NGO here in September following complaints that herbody was cremated without informing the police.

A case was registered today against Gunasekaran, one of theconsultants of the Reach and Reach school, who had allegedlypressurised the partents the 15-year old girl to cremate thebody and also given funds for the same, police said.

Gunasekaran, was running a orphanage ''Vasantham'' which hadbeen banned after reports that he had allegedly producedpornographic films using the girl inmates. Then he joined theReach and Reach as consultant.

While the officials of the Reach and Reach run for poor,HIV afflicted children and orphans, had claimed the girlcommitted suicide, her parents alleged they were pressurisedto cremate the body without informing police.

The girl was found dead on Sept 7, 2010 and her parentswere informed that she had hanged herself to death. However,last week one of the friends of the girl told the parents thatshe did commit suicide and the school management throughGunasekaran had informed them only two days after the death.

Police are inquiring the school authorities and theemployees as well as the classmates of the girl.
