Suspect in Arizona shoot-out to appear in court
He is accused of shooting the 40-year-old lawmaker at the back of her head at a public event in Tucson, Arizona. During the open fire the assaulter killed at-least six persons including a 9-year-old girl, besides injuring 18 others.
The husband of wounded US Congresswoman astronaut Mark Kelly, in his statement thanked all the supporters and expressed his condolence to other victim's family on Sunday, Jan 9.
"Many of you have offered help. There is little that we can do but pray for those who are struggling," Kelly said. He added, "If you are inspired to make a positive gesture, consider two organizations that Giffords has long valued and supported, the Tucson's Community Food Bank and the American Red Cross."
But in Kelly's statement he did not provide any information on Giffords 's recovery.
However, doctors said, "Giffords was lucky to be alive but cannot be definite about the degree of her recovery, it could take months or longer." Now Giffords is able to communicate with doctors by following simple commands, doctors attending on her said.
