K'taka: Opposition armed with CEC to attack BJP
The CEC report spelled more trouble for chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa and Reddy brothers. The committee have confirmed the involvement of Reddy brothers in illegal mining in Bellary.
According to committee report Reddy brothers done illegal mining through three leases in Obulapuram mines in the Bellary reserved forest area. Committee recommended to cancel the licences and recover exemplary cost from them (Reddy brothers).
The committee report recites how the Reddy brothers got the licences transferred from the original leaseholder and how the licences were renewed till 2017, without calculating the period between 1984-1997.
Senior counsel Harish Salve submitted the report to the panel of Chief Justice SH Kapadia, Justices Aftab Alam and KS Radhakrishnan on Friday. The Bench granted two-weeks for Reddy brothers to file their response.
Meanwhile, both Congress and JD(S) has decided to move an adjourned motion in the Assembly and the Council on Monday, demanding Yeddyurappa and Reddy brothers to quit over their alleged involvement into land scam and illegal mining.
“We will repeat the kind of protest the BJP launched in the Parliament over the 2G spectrum scam, as illegal mining is also an issue where thousands of crores of public money is involved," said a Congress leader.
Even BJP is ready to counter the Opposition's attack by releasing the documents, which narrates the corruptions during the Opposition's tenure.
