Pak pulls the plug on onion exports to India
Pakistan has decided to halt onion exports to India due to the steep hike in onion prices in Pakistan. Three hundred trucks were exported earlier after the prices of onion hit the roof during the last week of December 2010.
The import of onion was carried out by the Public Enterprises Company (PEC) and the State Trading Corporation (STC) under the Ministry of Commerce. The fact was revealed by sources within the Indian government.
This will mean more woes for the aam aadmi as a hike in onion prices is expected soon.
