Kuala Lumpur, Jan 4 (ANI): An Indian citizen has been languishing in a Malaysian detention centre for more than 36 months despite being sentenced to a four-month jail term for illegal entry.

S. Nallusamy, 37, was frustrated with his predicament that he had asked for poison from a social worker who visited him at the Lenggeng detention centre, reported Tamil Nesan.

Nallusamy's plight came to light when the man's family in Tiruchy, India, contacted social worker S. Kamalanathan.

He was earlier detained by the Immigration in 2007 for not having travel documents after entering Malaysia in 2002.

Kamalanathan said immigration officers told him that they had submitted documents to the Indian High Commission to enable Nallusamy to be repatriated back to India after completing his sentence.

However, they had not received any reply. (ANI)
