Google plans digital newsstand for Android
The Wall Street Journal reported that Google has begun talks with several magazine publishers to start the digital newsstand which is regarded as a latest move against technology giant Apple Inc, who sells digital versions of many major magazines and newspapers through its iTunes store.
The report added that Google discussed the new venture with Time Warner Inc's Time Inc unit, Conde Nast and Hearst Corp and some other publishers.
"We've consistently said we're talking with publishers about ways we can work together, including whether we can help them with technology for subscription services. We have nothing specific to announce at this time," Google said in a statement.
