"It (Congress-DMK relation) is as strong as the ties between you (media) and me," stated Karunanidhi on Monday, Jan 3.
Explaining about his ignoring of meeting with the PM on Jan 2, DMK chief also informed, "I could not meet the PM because of previous engagement. We sought more fund from Centre for flood-affected areas."
Citing his alleged role in 2G spectrum scam, former telecom minister A Raja was forced to resign from his post. The news of speculation about rift between Congress and DMK was on the air from Raja's resignation time as Raja is a leader of DMK.
On Sunday, Jan 2, when PM Manmohan Singh reached Chennai, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu skipped the meeting which paved the speculation that ties between Congress and DMK has come on the verge of end.
